About the Daniel & Joy Foundation
The Foundation exists to support students and communities through thoughtful giving, mentoring, and long-term care for the next generation.
About the Foundation
The Daniel & Joy Foundation exists to widen opportunity, strengthen lives, and support practical initiatives that contribute to long-term human flourishing.
The Daniel & Joy Scholarship is one expression of this vision. Through financial support, mentoring, and leadership development, the scholarship supports students in Singapore who are preparing for mental health-related fields and who hope to contribute meaningfully to the well-being of others.
The Foundation also supports broader impact initiatives, including Chua Global Impact Lab, a global platform backing early-stage ideas, community innovations, and practical solutions for measurable social good.
Why mental health
Mental health professionals play an important role in strengthening individuals, families, and communities. They help people make sense of pain, build resilience, restore relationships, and move toward healthier ways of living.
By supporting students entering this field, the Foundation hopes to contribute to a future where more people in Singapore can access compassionate and capable care.
Why we started
Daniel and Joy believe that care for people is one of the most meaningful investments a family or community can make. Through Joy's journey in Marriage and Family Therapy, they became more deeply aware of the need for compassionate, well-trained mental health professionals who can serve individuals and families with wisdom, skill, and empathy.
The scholarship was created for students who may carry the desire to help others, but who also carry real financial pressures. It is a way of saying: your calling matters, your story matters, and your future contribution is worth supporting.
What we hold to
Compassion
We believe support should be offered with dignity, care, and respect.
Opportunity
We believe financial barriers should not prevent capable students from pursuing meaningful work.
Formation
We believe education is not only academic, but also personal, relational, and vocational.
Service
We believe scholars are being prepared not only for careers, but for contribution.
